Tax Supervisor

We are seeking a Tax Supervisor with strong technical skills who is committed to helping staff grow and is passionate about their professional career.

The full-time Tax Supervisor’s responsibilities include preparing personal and entity tax returns, particularly the most complex ones, while also reviewing less complicated returns. The successful candidate will have experience with tax research and planning, as well as effectively handling communications with the IRS. We are looking for an effective leader who develops strong relationships with senior and staff accountants and works effectively with staff and leaders in all PPC departments. This position offers a six-figure salary potential, flexible hours and working arrangements, generous vacation, health insurance, and other benefits.

Essential Functions

  • Assists Tax Managers and Partners as needed with all aspects of tax return preparation and review, including communicating and coordinating with clients
  • Holds primary responsibility for review of less complicated returns
  • Is a resource for Senior and Staff Accountants, providing technical input, positive review notes, and ongoing encouragement
  • Delegates work, supervises, and reviews staff performance
  • Assists with tax planning and research as needed
  • Develops a command of technical tax knowledge specific to the firm’s industry niches
  • Assists staff in other departments with client meetings and other tasks as needed
  • Works efficiently, producing high-quality work within budgeted timeframes
  • Establishes positive relationship with clients and staff and serves as a role model within the established PPC culture

Job Qualifications

  • Six or more years of public accounting tax experience
  • CPA or substantial progress toward CPA certification with plans to complete the process
  • Proficient with tax preparation and Microsoft office applications
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to be effective and efficient in both team and individual capacities
  • A team-player mentality with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Proactive and motivated individual who takes initiative for professional growth
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed, especially during tax seasons
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis upon hire
  • Must have a valid California Driver’s License and a reliable vehicle with adequate insurance
