Internship Opportunity

Price Paige & Company has multiple paid internship positions available for the Spring 2025 semester. Internships are available for the following service areas: Audit, Tax, Client Advisory Services, and Government Advisory Services. Internships will begin late January to early February. Intern job responsibilities will vary by department. Responsibilities are designed for interns to apply academic knowledge, learn how to prioritize tasks, and learn entry-level public accountant duties. Tasks may consist of compiling information, workpaper preparation, account balance reconciliations, scanning client data, moving documents into our working database, and trial balance or other data input. Interns will be expected to have a good foundation in Microsoft Office Word and Excel, in addition to learning various other computer applications during the internship. Interns must have strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Currently enrolled in an accounting degree program at a 4-year university or equivalent.
  • Availability of a minimum of 20 hours a week is preferred (days and hours are flexible).
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Have a valid driver’s license and auto insurance policy
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Team player with a positive “can-do” approach
  • Client-centric approach to all matters
  • Ability to work efficiently and to multi-task
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Tax Senior

Full Time

Summary of Responsibilities

A Senior Tax Associate performs most work assigned with a minimum of assistance. Often leads a number of Tax Staff Associates, instructs them in work to be performed, reviews the work done, and directs necessary revisions. The position requires technical, client service, supervision, marketing, and administrative skills. The duties of a Tax Senior are similar in nature of those of an in-charge tax accountant, but they cover a broader area. The salary range is $55,000-$90,000 dependent on skill level and experience. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Essential Functions

  • Prepares the most complex tax returns including personal, fiduciary and business types.
  • Performs less complex tax research projects.
  • Performs tax planning, including multiple scenarios or multiple years
  • Understands entity tax basis and how that impacts tax returns, projections and consulting engagements
  • Analyzes and drafts responses to IRS & FTB notices
  • Assists with IRS & FTB audits
  • Assists with payroll, BOE or county property tax audits
  • Assists QB clients with setup and/or cleanup of data
  • Understands & posts payroll liabilities & wage base adjustments as needed
  • Sets up new payroll items when needed
  • Begins to take charge of client relationship and be primary contact for client
  • Delegates projects to staff who can handle them most efficiently.
  • Develops expertise within agree upon industry group(s).
  • Knows and understands the reason behind the firm’s policies and procedures.
  • Becomes aware of workloads and budgets. Begins to proactively set schedule and organize work
  • Develops client relationships through business and social meeting with personnel.
  • Accepts volunteer positions in local community organizations.
  • Meets with prospective clients and cultivates prospects through referral sources.
  • Assists with tax administration projects assigned by managers and partners.

Required Experience

  • 5+ years experience in public accounting

  • Demonstrating a progression of experience in complexity of accounting tasks.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting

Required Licenses, Certificates or Knowledge

  • Either holds a current and valid Certified Public Accountants license or is working toward obtaining the license
  • Minimum of 40 hours of continuing professional education is required each year.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Quickbooks, Lacerte and general competence in computerized accounting software programs.

Senior Auditor

Full Time

Summary of Responsibilities

The Senior Auditor will be given a wide variety of diverse accounting & auditing assignments within the not-for-profit, governmental, and/or privately owned company sectors. A Senior Auditor is expected to work in a team-focused environment to ensure work is completed timely and accurately. The salary range is $55,000-$90,000 dependent on skill level and experience. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Essential Functions

  • Assists the managers and partners with all aspects of the audit engagement, including planning, risk assessment, conducting fieldwork, communicating and coordinating with the client, and preparing financial statements.
  • Schedules client engagements including interim and year-end fieldwork, entrance and exit conferences, and audit completion dates.
  • Develops a command of GAAP and the unique or specialized accounting principles specific to the firms’ industry niches. Develops a solid understanding of financial statement presentation and disclosure issues.
  • Researches and analyzes accounting and auditing concepts.
  • Serves in a leadership and supervisory capacity over audit staff.
  • Have a valid driver’s license
  • Have personal vehicle for client commute. The job requires in/out of town client commutes where a reliable vehicle is needed.
  • Have current auto insurance policy with at least minimum requirements for California.

Required Experience

  • 3-5 years of public accounting audit experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to be effective and efficient in both team and individual capacities.
  • A team player mentality with a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Proactive and motivated individual who takes initiative for professional growth.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.
  • Able to travel out of town, with occasional overnight stays.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis upon hire.

Tax Manager

Full Time

Summary of Responsibilities

Performs a wide variety of diversified, complex, tax-related tasks and supervises other tax department personnel. The salary range is $95,000 – $150,000 depending on skill level and experience.

Essential Functions

  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of tax issues. Considered to be a source of technical information for tax department members and clients.
  • Researches complex tax issues for presentation to engagement team members, partner, clients and others
  • Prepares most complex returns
  • Prepares tax projections and is involved in planning for complex clients.
  • Reviews tax accrual and associated working papers.
  • Analyzes IRS notices and drafts responses.
  • Reviews IRS notice responses prepared by other tax personnel.
  • Performs client consulting engagements
  • Reviews & approves tax returns as assigned, coordinate & review tax shelf returns
  • Acts as a resource to prepare complex transactional analysis or complex tax research
  • Is a referral source for A&A client tax issues
  • Backs-up partners for client calls in their absence
  • Encompass the firm’s mission, vision and values in representing the firm to other employees and the community
  • Provides management over a portfolio of clients and delivers high quality tax and consulting services
  • Assists in identify staff resource needs, including participating in the hiring, recruitment and termination of department staff
  • Coordinates with partners and managers related to staff training and staff continuing education plans. Coordinates internal CPE presentations and training.
  • Coordinates with other managers and partners to identify and implement department goals
  • Coordinates with other managers and partners regarding staff scheduling and project assignments
  • Monitors and follows up on staff utilization and productivity. Implements ideas and strategies for ensuring staff and department productivity.
  • Participates in analysis of profitability/efficiency within department. Assists in identifying growth opportunities.
  • Participates and conducts employee evaluations and employee mentorship. This may include the recommendation to promote or coach staff as deemed necessary.
  • Possesses strong communication skills. Understands the need to be diplomatic when required in delivering unpleasant information
  • Assists in the design and implementation of department policy and procedures (bonus structure, work flow policies, etc.)
  • Coordinates with admin staff on policies & procedures
  • Responsible for tax personnel onboarding procedures/training
  • Performs monthly billing and collection follow-up with clients.
  • Communicates with client regarding additional billing and other billing adjustments
